I thought I would drop you a line with some flattering news, I gave our Wills to an acquaintance of ours who does a lot of work on wills for a large group of Lawyers, I wanted to take out the word Thai in regards to probate as all our investments are in Australia, he said you can do it yourself by filling out a Codicil form, which I will do, the main reason for this email is to say he was extremely impressed to the high standard of our Wills, he went on to say the standard of our Wills was far higher than in Australia in fact he hasn’t seen better including the quality of the paper, so I thought I would pass on his comments to you and especially to Jeab (thai888 law Director) who I believe put our Wills together, it’s good to see that the work coming out of your office is world class, you should put this on your wall so prospective clients become aware of who they are dealing with.
Hope all is well with you and your Thai888 Law staff, we are keeping well over here, not doing much while this pandemic is around, Queensland is doing very well with no fresh cases for more than a month we are starting to see an ease of restrictions but until a vaccine comes along we all have to be very diligent, please give Jeab (Director) a hug from both of us and keep safe.
SepiaTechnique a year ago “I was absolutely distraught at the thought of having to deal with my fathers funeral in Thailand, And I only had one week to get things sorted as I had to return to UK and my work! I didn’t speak the language or know the law but Kelvin at thai888 law, was the most patient, kind and knowledgeable person who speaks English as well as having the benefits of his working partner being Thai, proved to be the most effective team going. I cannot recommend their services highly enough. Carrie”
I think Carrie’s review sums it up perfectly. This emotional time when things need to be done and you’re in the wrong space. It is a very legal process starting with the Embassy needing a document from the blood relative to release a letter to Abroad Funerals to start the funeral process.
English or Thai Language
Apart from everything being in Thai language you will need to be very patient with the locals as things are done differently in Thailand.
I hope you never get that unexpected call however if you do then simply contact us by email or phone and we can do everything for you.
Monday saw all of our mail systems thai888.com down. We could receive emails but could not send as for an unknown reason. I called our domain hosting service Godaddy in Singapore. This did not help. It became its not our problem but they did try to help.
The second call was to TOT Thailand and some techs came out on Tuesday. A few hours later they showed me a screenshot of the Singapore server rejecting thai888.com emails.
Godaddy or TOT
Call back to Godaddy in the USA, where nearly an hour later I was getting angry as no sleep for a day and no email for 2 days.
Again Godaddy rejected that it could be their Singapore servers, although I had the screenshot of the servers rejecting thai888.com mail!
So we have Singapore, Thailand, USA and me being an Australian trying to solve the blame game with me in the middle saying I have to run a company and staff and clients emails aren’t getting through.
In the end, it was not a Godaddy issue according to them nor TOT issue and so.
In the end, I did something very radical. I moved (migrated) our thai888.com domain and all things to the USA.
6 hours later I got a messaging saying migration was completed. Then I reconfigured all the mail and certificates for SSL to show USA domain hosting.
Don’t forget that Abroad Funeral Thailand is designed to take the worry and hassle from learning that a friend or family member has passed away in Thailand. What to do? where to start, who to call first? +66 8 0102 8978 do they speak English? Don’t waste time and just call us.
All is well now and so my apologies for any inconvenience –
My IT background saves the day
BTW my prior life I was the IT manager of Central Queensland University in Sydney NSW Australia and with this knowledge, I was able to fix this international issue. And so I hope something like this doesn’t happen to you as without technical knowledge it would be hard to diagnose the problem.
Alzheimer’s who will help out. How to make a Will directive for carers.
Thai888 Law knows what to do.
I tend to forget sometimes that I am dealing with real living people and their emotions and bodies. Making a Will or enforcing a Living Will after doing it hundreds of times makes it sometimes impersonal and robot-like. After all, it is a legal document. But for some they want their legacy to live on through a charity or helping their Thai partner, their family or sometimes even the gardener or the cook.
When a Will is made it normally stats that the person making it is of sound mind. However, my experience lately is that some of my clients have or are developing Alziemers. These people are elderly and living alone.
Alzheimer’s is a dreadful decease and most debilitating. And the worst is that each day it shows and the person forgets many things, even why they are in my office.
The disease gets to a point where the person needs 24-hour care. Care that is not really available in Thailand and so the person takes whatever assistance they can get. Someone to just be there in case.
The carer may mean well but they have no experience in looking after someone with Alzheimer’s. None.
I am not saying this of all carers but one client has an awful lot of money missing from their account. The carer was given the PIN number and access as sometimes the client cannot get out of bed and needs supplies. Each day several withdrawals have been made.
A lot of trust is needed here. It’s not easy and what else can one do in this situation?
If you know someone in this position then get them to make a Will whilst they are still competent.
Also, try to make them understand that someone needs to look after their accounts, someone trustworthy.
If the person has a large estate or more than 2 bank accounts, get them to start reducing all things down to a manageable size. 2 bank books – 1 fixed interest and the other day to day should be enough. And don’t forget the 800K in the bank for Immigration. And to go every 90 days and to apply for your visa every 12 months.
Not easy when you can’t remember much at all.
I did not ever expect this to be part of my job. However, I can help in a few ways. I am the controller of property for may clients, meaning that should something happen I can control the asset if it is for a person under 20 years old.
I can help if you have a Living Will or the Last Will and I am the Executor.
I cannot help if you have nothing in place and no next of kin.
Therefore I ask you to make a Will and make sure that a trusted 3rd party has your access codes and PIN numbers – and I don’t mean the gardener or the cook as the temptation is too great.
This link is about a young couple and although married the husband had the mortgage loan in his name and NO WILL. Thai888 Law CEO does regular talks on why you need a Will.
In every presentation I do I request people to make a Will and they normally say I don’t have anything to benefit anyone – Well how wrong you can be as everyone has spent their life building something. Whether it be a bank account, a house, a business, a family it has taken years of hard sweat and time invested. Just being you on 100’s of databases needs fixing other wise bills could still be coming in and someone has to pay them!
The story below is tragic and as I tell my staff at Thai888 Legal – you need to think like a bank to fix probate problems – don’t think with your heart as the banks and other corporations don’t. They simply want their money and don’t care about you, the kids or where you end up.
Below is a classic example on why you need a Will and Testament and preferably one for Thailand and one for your country where some other assets might be. Thai888 Law can make a Will for you and have it Notarised for your country and its perfectly legal. For a checklist just click here and email me. Its free so don’t worry.
A unique combined law company and funeral director services. Sounds weird however if you have ever had to deal with someone passing away and the legal issues associated with it then you will see the login in making 1 office manage all.
Many times Thai888 Law get the midnight call and then we make a few calls and things start to happen. We keep the family fully informed of the process and what documents are needed.
Most of these calls are from relatives overseas. They explain that because of health issues, or family, or work, or costs that they cannot come to the funeral or look after things in Thailand.
Thai888 Law and Monkhouse works with the family to arrange the funeral and then apply to the courts for Probate.
Its not easy for the family however thats why Thai888 and Allison Monkhouse combined to do the work for you – even though you cannot come to Thailand we do everything for you so that its like your here. We can arrange videos of the funeral and cremation or a live CHAT if you request. Or a sea ashes burial.
A Living Will under Thai Law is part of Thai Law under Statute 12 of the CCC. Basically it gives you the opportunity when you are competent enough to make some advanced planning.
There are 2 condition where it can work. 1 is where you are in a terminal phase of illness and the 2nd is where you are brain dead through injury caused by an accident, stroke, or aneurysm.
Some call the Living Will and enduring Power of Attorney (USA) however it is specific to Thailand and so called a Living Will.
Our document is on the same page English and then Thai language. We do this as some of the hospitals have 2 separate documents and so one may be changed and we think if its one the same page then it cannot be changed and the Judge and or hospital can see what the Testator wished.
There are a series of boxes to request or deny treatment and the Testator should check them off.
There is whats called a Surrogate and this is either me or a friend that is strong enough to tell the hospital to carry our your wishes.
All is signed and witnessed by 2 people.
Basically you as the Testator are telling the hospital to deny treatment to keep you allow when there is no hope.
Pain killers to make you comfortable are what most people prefer.
If you want to talk about this or get more info then email or call.
I have one as I have no intent to stay on a machine with the meter ticking over. I would rather give the money to my heirs or a charity.
