I am happy to say that Thai888 and Abroad are open and staff are fully employed. We are busy and have been rotating staff so that they can abide by the lockdown and visit their parents as 2 staff are now.
We have done 5 funerals in a week, all in the Pattaya area and NOT from corona virus but rather cancers. Still one of the leading causes of death around the World. With the lockdown it has been difficult to get to the Government Departments needed to supply the right documents to us.
Thai888 Law is proud to say that our last 2 Probate cases have been won based on our Will formats and our knowledge of “meta Data” in media. In short when you make a Will with us then we take your picture to prove that you were competent when you signed the document. If not and you should die then the courts may challenge the Testators competency.
Also I have a few nice recommendations for us CV19 and Thai888 Law Abroad Funerals Pattaya
Les Edmonds Probably the best law firm for honest impartial help & advice. Have total trust in them.2Delete, hide or report this
I was seeking answers to the Corona Virus 19 CV19 and came across this video I was looking for why the death numbers were so distorted, why are the media using the crude death rates (CDR) and saying these are deaths from CV19 . Dont get me wrong as a lot of people are stressed and they may have lost a love one from an underlying illness, but the media is being reckless beyond words by fanning this as a pandemic. I honestly prey that Dr Shiva is correct! as I dont want to see the World like this again. Whole countries are being shut down and 100’s of 1000’s of companies and SME’s shut down and bankrupted. I didnt understand why as the CV19 is an infectious disease however it doesnt appear to be fatal unless theres is some underlying disease. An example is that most people will get CV19, and most will live through it if they have a healthy immune system. SAME AS the seasonal flu. This is why mostly elder people with lung, diabetes, blood pressure, liver, kidney issues dont make it.
The numbers in the press are combined deaths all over the World and this is wrong.
Example: The main causes of death that contribute to a lower life expectancy in males than in females are ischaemic heart disease (0.84 years), road injuries (0.47), lung cancers (0.40), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (0.36), stroke (0.32), cirrhosis of the liver (0.27), tuberculosis (TB) (0.23), prostate cancer (0.22) . The media has all these crude death rates attributed to the CV19 as there is no reliable stats to support CV19 deaths only.
When I heard about the virus I too was stressed and wanted to run away. However we have Thai888 Law, our house and life here and so continued to work. I did however buy cod liver oil for all the staff, rich in vit A and D. Essential as you will see in the video. Anyway, the attached video is from Dr Shiva, who invented the email system we all use, he has several degrees and I was very impressed with his ability to join the dots for the many questions I had. I am not a conspiracy theorist, however many will dismiss Dr Shiva as a crank. UP TO YOU as they say in Thailand
It is perfectly legal in Thailand to have a Living Will. However you need to be aware that it is a directive that you set up before hand to tell the doctors, hospital, staff NOT TO keep you alive on a machine, NOT TO force feed you, etc. It is not to tell the hospital that you are sick of living and want them to terminate your life by drugs or another method.
There are 2 legal conditions that activate the LW
You must be in a terminal phase of illness ie cancer and dying or brain dead after a stroke or accident. Health Act part 12.
The person you had sign your Will as the Surrogate must meet with the hospital and staff and show them the legal signed Living Will otherwise if no Will then you could remain on life support for a long time and this is expensive.
Spend small money to make a document to stop paying big money strapped to a machine later.
Read this artical from the Bangkok Post. The old age care home is something else and I know of a few around Pattaya and Hua Hin.
A stay in hospital could run at 70,000 baht per day and this will soon deplete your savings. This is not to say you should not be in hospital seeking treatment, however you might get the same treatment at another hospital much cheaper. But without having a directive of some kind there is no way your proxy can have you moved to a cheaper hospital. You are powerless.
Due to my business I cannot be in this state and so have personally left a Last and Living Will. Perhaps you should consider the worst case scenario to prepare for (and hope it never happens) but still you have the docs in place if needed. [email protected]
most people get confused about this – check your passport and see – most have a non O visa –
The Immigration Bureau has announced that the mandatory health insurance requirement for foreigners applying for a one-year extension to stay based on a Non-Immigrant O-A visa will come into effect on Oct 31
The announcement was posted on the Immigration Bureau website yesterday (Oct 8), stating that the change in the Immigration regulations follows the Cabinet resolution made on April 2 this year.
Under the new rule, all foreigners applying for a one-year permit to stay on an O-A visa must have health insurance coverage for up to B40,000 for outpatient services and up to B400,000 for inpatient services.
The order, issued by Royal Thai Police Commissioner-General Chakthip Chaijinda on Sept 27, specifically states that the new rule comes into effect on Oct 31, 2019.
The order notes that health policies offering such coverage are already available at the website longstay.tgia.org
The order also states that policies issues by non-Thai insurance providers will be accepted as long as the B40,000 / B400,000 requirements are upheld. (See immigration order here. – keep scrolling down to see requirements in English.)
The accompanying documents published with the order yesterday as the redrafted regulations note that under Section 2.22 “In case of retirement”, the applicant must satisfy the same financial criteria as explained to The Phuket News by Phuket Immigration Deputy Chief Lt Col Archeep Jaroensuntisuk in February – namely that applicants must have evidence of receiving a monthly income of at least B65,000, OR have B800,000 in Thai bank account.
The order published full B800,000 must remain in the Thai bank account at least two months before the date of the application and at least three months after the application has been filed – and must never fall below B400,000 throughout the year. (See story here.)
Some say they dont have many assets but in reality you are the asset and should you pass away in Thailand as an alien then friends family and the various governments and the courts have to decide what to do with you. Sometimes things go like clock work and other times not. This is the nature of Murphys Law and what can go wrong at that time. Thai888 Law has years of experience in these matters and can assist you in writing a Will, Funeral Services, all the legals as the matter has to eventually go to court. Chasing down assets and returning them to the family or friends is what we do. It can take years but we normally win. Thanks to Dr. Ren for playing the witness and the PCEC for the fantastic job they do for expats in Pattaya.
Abroad Funerals is our newest venture in streamlining the system. Have been in this business for several years we have introduced many systems and standard operating procedures. This results in less time and money spent on running around double handling all the tasks. All you need to do is make a call or email, chat, LINE, Skype, Whatsapp to us and we can guide you through the whole process from making a Will to the funeral.
Beware of hidden costs
Abroad Funerals get many calls regarding the price. Many will tell you an extremely low price and you may commit to this. However, there are many costs that you will know about later on. Police, Embassy, Morgue, transport, fees. Then the temple has 1, 4, or 9 monks, flowers, casket, wreaths, ceremony, electricity, water for guests, flowers, incense, etc. After, there are court fees to get a grant, Embassy fees for translation, courier fees.
Together Thai888 Law & Abroad Funerals saves money
Most importantly it makes sense to give a small quotation fee in the beginning, however the costs will add up. Because when people hear 60,000 baht they are shocked but this is approx 1500 GBP or 1900 USD or 2800 AUD for everything regarding the Funeral costs. This is way below the cost of another country. Therefore, I guarantee you will save time and money by using our services.
SepiaTechnique a year ago "I was absolutely distraught at the thought of having to deal with my fathers funeral in Thailand, And I only had one week to get things sorted as I had to return to UK and my work! I didn't speak the language or know the law but Kelvin at thai888 law, was the most patient, kind and knowledgeable person who speaks English as well as having the benefits of his working partner being Thai, proved to be the most effective team going. I cannot recommend their services highly enough. Carrie"
I think Carrie's review sums it up perfectly. This emotional time when things need to be done and you're in the wrong space. It is a very legal process starting with the Embassy needing a document from the blood relative to release a letter to Abroad Funerals to start the funeral process.
English or Thai Language
Apart from everything being in Thai language you will need to be very patient with the locals as things are done differently in Thailand.
I hope you never get that unexpected call however if you do then simply contact us by email or phone and we can do everything for you.
Alzheimer’s who will help out. How to make a Will directive for carers.
Thai888 Law knows what to do.
I tend to forget sometimes that I am dealing with real living people and their emotions and bodies. Making a Will or enforcing a Living Will after doing it hundreds of times makes it sometimes impersonal and robot-like. After all, it is a legal document. But for some they want their legacy to live on through a charity or helping their Thai partner, their family or sometimes even the gardener or the cook.
When a Will is made it normally stats that the person making it is of sound mind. However, my experience lately is that some of my clients have or are developing Alziemers. These people are elderly and living alone.
Alzheimer’s is a dreadful decease and most debilitating. And the worst is that each day it shows and the person forgets many things, even why they are in my office.
The disease gets to a point where the person needs 24-hour care. Care that is not really available in Thailand and so the person takes whatever assistance they can get. Someone to just be there in case.
The carer may mean well but they have no experience in looking after someone with Alzheimer’s. None.
I am not saying this of all carers but one client has an awful lot of money missing from their account. The carer was given the PIN number and access as sometimes the client cannot get out of bed and needs supplies. Each day several withdrawals have been made.
A lot of trust is needed here. It’s not easy and what else can one do in this situation?
If you know someone in this position then get them to make a Will whilst they are still competent.
Also, try to make them understand that someone needs to look after their accounts, someone trustworthy.
If the person has a large estate or more than 2 bank accounts, get them to start reducing all things down to a manageable size. 2 bank books – 1 fixed interest and the other day to day should be enough. And don’t forget the 800K in the bank for Immigration. And to go every 90 days and to apply for your visa every 12 months.
Not easy when you can’t remember much at all.
I did not ever expect this to be part of my job. However, I can help in a few ways. I am the controller of property for may clients, meaning that should something happen I can control the asset if it is for a person under 20 years old.
I can help if you have a Living Will or the Last Will and I am the Executor.
I cannot help if you have nothing in place and no next of kin.
Therefore I ask you to make a Will and make sure that a trusted 3rd party has your access codes and PIN numbers – and I don’t mean the gardener or the cook as the temptation is too great.
A tough time for all involved and particularly as Gordon Halpin AKA “Galloper” and his wife Judy were friend of over 8 years.
As friends, we assisted from the beginning at the hospital, with the insurance company from Australia, the Police, and used Thai888 Law to arrange the funeral, cremation, insurance claim, and Probate. It was a very big day and thanks to all our staff and friends for making it so.
Here is the funeral of a big day for big Mr G at 6 foot 6 inches tall.
